When you have to wait in the waiting room of an urgent care facility with your child, it is important to make sure that you prepare properly. There is no telling how long you and your child could be waiting in the waiting room to find out what is wrong with your loved one. There are not many fun things to entertain children in many waiting rooms. Packing a bag that is filled with things to keep your child happy and entertained can make your wait more enjoyable. Use the following guide to learn a few things to pack in a bag, if you must take your child with you to the waiting room in an urgent care facility.

A Deck of Cards

A deck of cards is great for use in any waiting room. Your child will be able to stay occupied with one deck of cards for hours, if need be. The cards can be used to play a game of Go Fish, War, or even Solitaire. Your child can build a card house with the cards, as well.

Snacks and Drinks

Bringing snacks and drinks with you to the facility will ensure that your child is able to stay full and hydrated.  Bringing snacks and drinks with you ensures your child only eats the healthy foods you choose to give him or her.

Coloring Supplies

Bring markers, crayons, and colored pencils with you to the urgent care facility. You can pack coloring books or even spiral notebooks to ensure that your child can have something to draw on or to color. The notebook and coloring supplies can also be used to play a game of Hangman or Tic-Tac-Toe.

A Light Blanket

Pack a light blanket in the bag as it may be cool in the facility.  The blanket can be used as a place for your child to sit, if he or she wants to play on the floor, as well.

When an emergency takes place, packing a bag may not be the first thing on your mind. If you pre-pack the bag and leave it in the trunk of your car, you can always have the supplies you need readily available to you at any time. If you choose to pre-pack the bag, choose drinks and snacks that are shelf stable so that they do not have to be kept cold to remain safe for consumption.
